We went on a short trip to Sabah. I have to say I am in awe of my dear Iris. She travels well. She was good at the airport, plane, on the boat when we went island hopping and great when we went to kinabalu park.

Me? I am just plain tired because I forgot to relax and enjoy the moment. Silly me.

Sewing Fun part 2

Out of curiousity I bought Ali Edwards scrapbook on the road class. I bought a few classes on mini albums/books but hers made me think about my whole process. Why, when and how I scrapbook. And my conclusion is that I like it simple and I love to journal. I love to write on paper. As much as I am attracted to embellishments I don't use it as much. I love the clean look with more words and pictures. My page has to have meaning to me and I am slow at producing a page because I overthink everything. perfect much? Yes I admit I am control freak. That is the root of my misery. Hah! I gotta thank Ali for that, she is cheaper than a session with a shrink. Now enough of my rambling I want to share my mini book.

I sew together a few papers together to make a mini book for Dalya, she is really good at putting in pictures and random words which makes me happy!!

After sewing it all together I realised that I put the "raindrops" pp upside down blerghhh. I was on a sewing frenzy all Saturday. I have not touched my sewing machine since. I have to put it out there my knowledge and skill with the sewing machine is terrible and very much "learn as I go" kind of thing. My mistakes made me understand the machine better. So if I can sew anyone can!

My cousin loan me her old Singer sewing machine I'm guessing it's circa 80's. Still functional!! I had to remember all my sewing knowledge. It is amazing how I remember it all this years. The last time I was actively using the sewing machine I was fifteen for my SRP exam Lol.

This time around I wanted to sew on paper :)

My stash is here but I can't play with it but I have a few old layouts to share.

Whatever it is Iris comes first then everything else comes second. Scrapping seems to be push aside more and more. I can't scrap under pressure. I can't force it. I have to love the process otherwise the paper stays blank.

Lately Iris loves to play.

She also loves to give me the stink eye when I'm not giving her enough attention.

Life is good even if I miss going for jazzercise. I am hopeful that next month Iris will be more settled. I can't leave her because she once cried for an hour. Now we are slowly bottle feeding her. She is showing positive signs.

the file folder

This is a short post, I thought I will share my progress of my file folder which I mentioned in my previous post. Right now it is SIL anniversary and so the DTs are having a blog hop of some sort. I missed the week hosted by Wati. When I saw Yatie's file I was totally in awe and inspired. I attempted to alter my file and this is what I managed. This is stage one. I will continue with stage two and hope I finish it somehow.

Today

After reading all my comments I realised that I was feeling down and the only way to get out of it was to flip. Only I can change my mood. It took a while and constant awareness on my part. Being up and positive sure felt lighter and better.

Today I met up with my niece Sofia. I really adore this girl. She is delightful, very passionate clever girl. I am amaze and often surprised by her quick wit. The story is Sofia can't pronounce the letter R, we often ask her to sing row row your boat. After a while she caught on that we were making fun of her and so she refuse to sing it anymore. So I thought I was being clever... I asked her "eh Sofia what do you do with a boat? What do you call this ( i made rowing gesture)..." She said Mendayung!! (malay for rowing) hahahaha. My attempt to trick her totally backfired. She is our sweetheart, we all enjoy her company termendously.

We then went to eat durian. I still feel very full despite eating only 2 pieces.

I am in the midst of making a folder inspired both by Ame and Yatie. I don't often do altered art but was totally in awe of these 2 ladies work.

I am glad and very grateful that scrapbooking not only bring joy to my heart, it also allow me to "meet" lovely talented ladies online who are often supportive with their words. I thank you all so much. Your work and words inspire me.

I made a simple layout of my two lovely daughters. Its difficult for me to capture the true colours of this layout. Its not so yellowish on real life.

I am in love with these Ali Edwards stamps. I love this particular stamp above but had some trouble getting a clear image.

I am feeling more settled as Iris is finally out of her whining episodes. I am so grateful for the 3 hours sleep last night.

Yes I do sound stressed in the previous post, honestly I was truly overwhelmed. I never thought it be this tough the second time around. Enough of that, today is a good day.

Above is a cover I made when Iris was a few weeks old. I am slowly filling it up with journaling and photos.

Below are some layouts I did. I am using sketches to speed up my process nowadays. I mostly go to Shimelle or KP. They both have a easy,fun and no stress style towards scrapbooking which I love.

Dear Friends,

March was a big struggle for me, there was a lot of sick episodes at home and big changes. My intention when I set up this blog is a place for me to record my layouts and add notes as to why I scrap the photos. But lately I have not had the time to do it. I am totally struggling and juggling and honestly I am doing a bad job cause I feel exhausted, frustrated and very confused. I am never sure what I am doing is right or wrong.

I still do some simple layouts and mini books but I have not the time or energy to take pictures and blog about it. I feel that its gonna be like this for a long time.

I have not been to any of your blogs for a while. I have not had the chance to sit like I am doing right now.

Even as I am typing at this very moment I am not sure whether I should blog this post but I will in case some are wondering what I am up to.

As frustrated as I am at this very moment I am also very grateful and happy with my life, it is really strange how mixed my feelings and emotions are at the moment..thus making me very confused....hehehe.

Sorry there are no photos and such I am totally gonna chill for a few minutes as this is my free time.

Ahhhh Love! My love for my family and Hero Arts stamps!! I love them cause they lured me to scrap. I bought so many Hero Arts stamps thinking they were for scrapping but soon found out most Hero Art stampers were card makers hehehe. I soon began collecting rather than using them. Last night after Iris was put to sleep I start the layout above. I used a lot of stuff that I have been neglecting like my gel medium, perfect pearls, embossing ink, embossing powder, pigment ink.
Stamping with versamark, pigment ink and embossing all over. If you look closely under the picture of me and Iris..thats my attempt to mask the doily using pigment ink.
Experiment gone awry! but I left it as it is. As Amelia has noted..yes I am trying to find my distinct style..to find what ticks me when I scrap and I discovered I like anything and everything that is why the look(style) of my layout changes.

This prayer was in my heart and I thought why not do another page in my sketch book.

Currently Adik(Iris) have been soiling her diaper more than usual up to 10 changes a day. I thought it was the runs but the peads said it was normal for breast fed babies ???? Honestly this change has made me apprehensive about traveling but Iris was a good traveler.. very steady and loved being in the car seat. We had a pleasant journey going and coming back from KT.

My most favourite picture of the whole trip! hehehe I dunno why I just laugh each time I see this picture. The girl on the left is Iris's cousin, she is not please to discover she is not the one and only baby anymore and that tok is giving Iris all the attention, Iris just follow suit when Alisya started to bawl.

The trip was all about eating for me I soon felt that my jeans were shrinking and I was way out of shape but as always I have not exercise nor plan to start dieting.

This is another silly picture!! I just love hipstamatic. It was the only reason I got the iPhone. I have taken 800 pictures using the hipstamatic! and its only been 2 months.

What is the use of taking this cool funky wonky zany pictures if I can't scrap them?? and so after trying a few times I've discovered how to edit then print them. Can be set at 3 sizes the smallest being 2inch square then medium 4 inch square..have not tried the largest cause my selphy can only print till 4 inch.

And so I present my layout using the pictures taken using the hipstamatic apps!

This is where I pin all my edited pictures and some pictures I plan to scrap. I am dabbling a bit with photoshop CS 3 it sure takes a lot of time to get the right look.

CHA is to me like the fashion shows in London, Paris, Milan NewYork where people in the craft industry showcase and sell their new stuff to retailers. Soon there will be an influx of "new" stuff, "in" stuff, "must have" stuff. Honestly last year I wanted it all, this year not so..I am still happy using what is now consider last season. Now I know what I like. I am not shabby chic with loads of embellies..I really like it but I am totally BAD at it...so I am not going to buy anymore Prima flowers or swirly blings no matter how pretty and tempted I am. Next no more webster pages cause pretty as they are I just truly fail at using them, in the end its prettier to look at.

What I love is stamps! yes stamps which cost a lot yet underutilised I esp love Tim Holtz stamps this CHA I am really tempted to pre order them all.

I also notice that as much as I love die cuts I rarely use them so my plan is to use what I have. I also am determined to use my slice and ignore the beautiful examples of layouts using Silhouette (this is very hard but I will keep reminding myself NO!!)

Next on my list is to stop hoarding the K&co die cuts!! as lovely as they are err use them!! hello Mariam??

Another thing I notice is that like fashion some stuff are classic while others are trends like banners, those rose ribbons, dress forms etc. Wonder what is the trend for this year.

What I know for sure is I am less into all the hype of new stuff .I will just use my stash and my stash is good enough. Fun as it is I am cutting back on buying stuff errr don't get me wrong I will buy but in moderation. I am also sharing most my stash with my daughter, she is loving it but she is not confident enough to write in her blog(because of spelling error and such), I so want to help her to write and all but I won't cause I believe she can do it on her own.

Hmm what else..I am thinking that I need to take better pictures, as much as I love a great picture I just don't enjoy the technical stuff. I am wondering should I learn more about photography or just let DH do it all. I really love auto focus hahahaha.

I had a blast this Lunar New Year. Took lots of picture but I can't share the layouts because some of my friends and family members don't want me to share their pics in my blog :( and I don't want to privatise my blog again.

I made one layout last week based on a colour challenge of using grey, yellow and teal. Simple really and I love simple nowadays, I'm not into techniques lately just cut paste.

I took these pictures using a photo booth app on the phone. very fun!! I have tonnes of wee lil hipstamatic pic I printed and will definitely scrap them soon.

I am taking few days off scrapping have lots of plans and stuff to do. Its really good I have this one little word thing going on this year, I have been on my toes and reminding myself.

I did two layouts today. I finally got a part time cleaner!!! happy happy joy joy.

Below is inspired from my outfit today, yellow and grey. I used my slice to cute the vellum flowers and title. Used some MR lemon mist, I heart this layout. I was staring at it a lot. It is my favourite one to date. Miss botak chubby cheeks sure has grown since October and January is near the end..time sure flies eh.

This one below is done because I love the quote so much. I subscribe to a daily contemplation so this is the quote of the day.

The turn of events since last Thursday have made me neglect my blog, it all started when I woke up one morning and attempted to clean my house which I have sadly neglected since a year plus. I was overzealous and got sick in the end. I had aches all over. I am far from done. I got horribly sidetracked when I started reading Stieg Larson's trilogy I became so obsessed with the book and was crazy enough to finish them all in 3 days. I then got a massive headache because I focused too long reading and was straining my eyes.

No scrapping cause I just felt no motivation at all, I was all about the house and trying to keep it in order.

This year I had a breakthrough!! I finally put aside an issue with someone. I finally came clean and told him the truth. I feel so free. He in turn have been very civil and nice. I feel so grateful for this. I really am so thankful, I decided that I am now ready to open my blog again.

I can't make a post without a picture!

here is one of Iris. On her 100th day DH took loads of pictures this is one of our favourites that I have transferred.

woke up at 4 am today to have a looooonggg shower no interuptions makes mama a very happy woman.

Scrapped this layout with using phone photos not the clearest but it will do. I should really have cameras strewn around the house as I have missed many moments that I want to capture. Lil Ku Iris has been very chatty and smiley, she loves to be talked to all the time. She has been crying less and more settled. As for me, well I have gotten a lil routine and I get free time..love it.

I lost my train of thought I better be off now. Till then.

The layouts speak for itself, I am selfish I still want to scrap and so I only get to do it in bits at time. And nowadays I just use the glue and scissors cause the paper trimmer makes too much noise hehehe.

Actually I promised Dalya to set up a blog so that she can upload her layouts. I just keep forgetting to set up her account. She did one layout based on a sketch. She feels very happy and that what matters.

This layout is based on SIL Dec challenge. My name is given by my late Ah Kong, he told my parents to name their girl Mariam. I was a very strange and still am a strange zany person, often melancholy and serious thinker, at the same time I am a chatterbox!! my first report card in kindy the teacher actually wrote your daughter is a chatterbox.

I did this layout in record time as I can hear Iris calling for my attention, when one has no time anything goes!

Ahhhh! this picture has been on my desk like forever I just did not know how to scrap it and since I am now often time challenge anything goes!

Seriously have a love hate thing for that pink paislee flourish I kept taking it off and putting it on.

Last year I chose a word but did not really follow through with it and honestly I forgot what it was. This year 2 words came to my mind first was commitment then action. I decided to go with action. why? because it is the opposite of procrastination. I want to act upon my dreams, vision and life as a whole. I did a page ala glue book. I got this term from a card maker name Louise but I forgot her URL. The gist of it is to use paper and glue, no stamps allowed.

At the moment I am busy busy busy haven't had the time to blog hop and leave comments hoping to do that soonest.

This year been good to me I have an addition to my family. However I feel I can do better with all my ideas and creativity. I have been rather lazy this year and worst I have broken many promises. I have really disappointed myself the most. So for 2011 I choose the word action. I am going act upon my ideas and thoughts rather just sit on it or procrastinate as it causes to many regrets and guilt. Another thing is I am so tired of what other people think about me. I realised that I have put my blog private because of it. I also realised that I cannot stop making people like me no matter how hard I try being defensive about it. ( I have a very deep unresolved issue about this hehehe! am a nutta)

I can go on rambling about it all but I won't because I also realised that drama is so boring and that I just am not interested in it anymore. Life experiences have thought me that its no fun being alone and blaming everyone else for what I am feeling does not help. I also realised that family means everything to me and I love this homebody life. So its time to grow up and commit to my life...to make it the best I can for myself.

This whole week I did not scrap much, I am pretty much tied up with family matters. Feeling cheerful and happy.

Yesterday I had a scrappy marathon I was super duper hyperactive must be the toffee nut latte I drank. There are 7 layouts but I only took these 3.

This particular layout I went overboard with the stamping ... my hubby made a comment that it looked dirty hehehe. The green bits are tissue paper which I stamped on.

So I have made 78 LOs and have 22 more to go!!

Feeling sleepy so will end now. Will make another blog entry tomorrow.

My idea of scrapbooking before was using scraps of paper plus stuff I have lying around, then I stumbled upon creating keepsake magazine when I was preggy with Dalya, it spark an interest but I was turned off with the actual cost, I did get some stuff but that was it. Then my cousin Mas was scrapping and I did try to start again but honestly did not get the hang of it. My pages were stiff and boring, I lost my first album..I search high and low for it but its gone...this was late 2002-2003. I still had my stack of papers and stuff which cost a BOMB back then. Then my interest came back after I got married that was around July, I started buying more stuff but I did not do a layout till I went for class with Wati Basri. Its funny really I guess I was so into buying scrapbook materials because of the cute and colourful factor that I actually forgot to do layouts. Then I started to blog hop and read magazines...here my expectations when a bit overboard..I wanted perfect layouts.

Nowadays I just want to scrap for myself and for me all my layouts are just perfect cause my goal when I first saw the concept of scrapbooking was to record memories with my picture. And only now I realise some stuff I bought are just on a whim and in the spur of the moment. I sure have accumulated a lot if I count the first wood mounted stamp I bought in the 90's....and truth be told I am such a hoarder and collector. All I want now is a room just for stuff! I now wish my walk in closet is my scrap area.

So to sum it up I enjoy the shopping bit, the putting the paper and stuff together with the pictures I took and kept so that I can recall the memories and somehow compose a layout , I also love the sudden rush of inspiration while scrapping which in the ends with me creating a layout. I love the process it is so much fun and so liberating.

This year I forgot to check TH's 12 tags till yesterday, as usual he is brilliant the king of craft truly gifted.Of all the techniques I wanted to try the alcohol inked tissue paper flower. Very fun to do.

This LO I inked the tissue tape using copper and butterscotch inks and used TH's stamps which sadly neglected.

I feeling more upbeat. Life is about letting go and moving on..guess I have to take it one day at a time and no be so hard on myself.

still slicing

I made this layout in stages bit by bit cause each time I touch my papers Iris will cry hikss...finally had it done. I used my slice again, even if its not the ideal digital cutting machine I still love the designs. I wish that Making Memories made it PERFECT!

Second layout is easy peasy did it in minutes. I wanted to do a monochromatic layout simple really.

Today I wanted to pop over to Papier for their Crop Market but I really don't feel like going out, for one I am often tempted to buy buy buy when I am feeling off and I am feeling very off cause Dalya is not around. Its weird really, she drives me nuts sometimes cause she is very clingy and all but once she is not around my heart feels empty. Its been like this for nearly 3 years( Dalya off to Kuching) yet I still have not gotten over this emotional roller coaster. I used to cry myself to sleep but its better this year. I know that she loves me no matter what and that we will be together again. I usually don't write about my feeling here but I want to let this out, I have this tight feeling in my heart and I hope that all this will pass.

slice

I have a love hate relationship with my Slice machine. I love it cause its pink but I hate the spraying of adhesive and cleaning afterwards. I also dislike that it cuts wonky and its ultra moody. So for a while I often "forget" to use my slice. 2 days back I played with it and I did not use adhesive and just cut away. Some of it turn out bad some ok. I managed to only do 2 layouts with my slice.

the first layout I just misted over the shapes I cut using the Slice except the clouds (this is a punch) all the red bits are cut using the Slice.

Second layout I cut the words "Baby" and "cutie". This layout is inspired/scraplift of Jaime Warren's layout.

This is my 65th layout if I am not mistaken. I have a lot more to do to reach 100..who am I kidding! I am the slowest scrapper ever.

On the home front sometimes I feel really overwhelm with the changes plus having my daughter away makes me kinda "off". I wish sometimes I can switch off my thinking and worrying mode cause its making me really tired.

to tell ya the truth I am still thinking about the 100 LO target. Yup I have a newborn and yes my daily routine is not running smoothly but I am forever itching to scrap. Its an addiction. And I love the fact that when I scrap I am in this happy zone. Makes me sane and have me time. Gotta love that.

Gosh I dunno where to start. These are a few pictures of Iris, which Badli took with his handphone cause the hospital has a no photography policy and he took it secretly.

We choose her name a week before she was born..I was walking around Empire Gallery and was so drawn to the window dressing of Crabtree and Evelyn which was launching their new fragrance Iris and since my Dalya was named after a flower I thought why not!

Second layout I did hmmm shows the state of mind I am in utter chaos Hah! and NO i did not really bite miss Iris. I used my alcohol inks to make the splatters. I often forget to use the alcohol inks.

This is Badli's favourite picture of Iris. And before anyone says she is chubby err she is not, she weighs less than 3kg.

Her face is smaller than the palm of my hands.

Today I went for a normal checkup but the Dr put me at the labour room for monitoring. Yup! seems that my blood pressure is up and I am to be induced tomorrow morning. I dunno what to expect tomorrow but I am praying for the best. I was shaken at first but have pulled my nerves together.

I am guessing she is 2. This is the first raya we spend in Kuching. She looks so happy in the picture. This layout is a lift of Lesley Langdon she is Unity stamp DT. I love stamps but rarely use them in layouts. This is quite a direct lift but I did not use any of the unity stamps I used whatever stamps I had. I even used my slice! ngeeeeee.

Second layout is Creative Scrapper Sketch # 124. simple straightforward using all of my stickers at one go! I finally used the Darkroom door baby girl stamp.

P/S: The white I pen I used for journaling the Love You layout of my daughter is Uniball Signo, I got it last year from Cipzlee, Bangsar. They used to sell some scrapbooking stuff from Smidapaper I dunno whether they do anymore. The pen is the best! I have 2 Uniball pens that are still ok from the year 2002.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. So when I asked my daughter what she wanted to do yesterday she said she wanted to scrap and so we did. ( warning!! another wedding photo :P)

She choose the products and all even painted the chipboard all I did was pasted the stuff down. She even put the jump rings for the hanging sign yup! She wanted the white rose to match the flowers we were both wearing...hehehe sweet! Its fun to make a layout with her.

I did not get much done during the weekend my feet is swollen beyond recognition. Sitting, lying down everything feels uncomfortable. I feel ok though, very healthy and all. Just the legs is bothering me.

And I am er er feeling very2 guilty cause I have not posted something and raya is OVER!!! (note to self: don't commit to anythings if I am not serious) I have to think of something to make it up to them.

Today is Dalya's birthday. She is better known as Dayang at school. We did this goodie bag to give to her classmates. Its the same stamp I used for the layout with my hubby. It was not stickers I used but I stamp each letter and some of it are stickers. hehehe...

I also did a layout when I was babysitting Karim err was not as easy as I thought, I got a bit distracted but its possible so I am very very positive that I will get to scrap in the future..cannot stop mind you have invested a lot and my stash is kind of substantial.

oh dear my hubby just called seems the ice cream cake that I ordered for my daughter's birthday is not at the premise grrrrr will only be ready by 4!! hope it arrives though she was asking about her cake since this morning.

I am going to take a break from blogging and scrapping. Will only update by Monday. I need to sort my baby stuff and all :)

I did not scrap over the weekend cause Raya celebrations is still full force! Open houses everywhere. I also noticed that my mojo is kind of slowing down so to speak, I still want to scrap though and squeeze out as much as I can.

I love the red AC ZIng! embossing powder I bought yesterday, the pictures just don't do justice. The finish is vibrant and shiny! I love it. As for the layout its fairly simple, I just wanted to scrap the picture more than anything cause I adore my niece and nephew! and kids just look too cute at this age.

I hope no one is getting sick of looking at my wedding photos cause there is a lot more pictures I have yet to scrap!

This layout is so so so easy and fast I just paste everything. I love the Heidi Swapp chipboard so pretty and takes in colours so well.

Mind you that I was in my silly early 20's when I posed for the photos..hahaha look at that silly expression. In the Venice layout I used Sassafras plus 7 gypsies stamps..easy peasy. I just like the layered look without the hassle. The papers comes like this with all the lace and fabric etc all I had to do was cut and paste.

This second layout is done in 30 minutes or so, I time challenged myself to see if I can scrap in 30 mins..looks like its possible. hehehe.

with that I have done over 50 layouts!! yay! I know I only reached the halfway mark but who knows ya, 2010 is still not over.

This layout is pretty simple and straight forward, I just used a few of my Unity stamps I bought at SNC and stickers. Why I scrapped this pictures is a reminder to myself that in every situation I face in life I have a choice in how to react. The first picture was taken in one of my lowest point in life, I was beyond confused and down. Back then I was so adamant to blame and choose hate over love. Few years later I took a picture of myself during a challenging time but when I choose to be happy and feel love rather than moody and sad.

This layout was done using my stash of washi tape which I stamp on with staz on ink. Then I just pasted it by the side. Added some punch out borders. A bit of paint use here and there and some stamping with embossing ink on kraft paper. The 2 frayed bits with the cup and the girl stamp is Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas, painted, stamped and an experiment with resist that did not turn out well. I did smear some of my daughter's yellow pastel on the background just a wee bit.

P/S: hehehehe I have to laugh for a moment, my DH was staring at this LO and was shocked! He said err err ...I know he is not fond of it. He says this is my weirdest colour combo ever!! He asked me am I ok? I said not really..I replied I am feeling very funky and not myself these past few days. Funny thing is I love this layout, I dunno why I just do. lol ...thing is scrapping must be very theraputic cause now I am feeling fine and joyful :)

Simple really just cut paste paper a bit of misting, embossing, punching paper and stamping. so much fun and I hope my no 1 fan will like this layout I did of him.

These two layouts are the fastest ones I ever done, I only spend 30-40 minutes tops because with my condition now my legs get swollen when I sit too long..even with my legs elevated.

The above layout is inspired by Maggie Holmes, she is often published in creating keepsakes magazine. I got the idea to cut the picture in two cause my hubby was not looking at the camera.

I am so happy I got the idea to use the love birds chipboard I bought last week cause with a piece that big it can be difficult to incorporate into designing a layout.

This layout is pretty simple, just cut paste papers and rub ons. I can't believe I still have a bit of rose ribbon left ...goes to show that I should not buy same designs in many colours!!I left out the journaling because I forgot the details..will do it later.

When I first laid eyes on the 7 Gypsies paper I was in love. I knew which picture I was gonna scrap with. The layout is pretty simple just fussy cutting and a bit of misting. I used Sticky Back canvas as the background paper with the doily as the mask. A very simple layout with minimal techniques. Love the simplicity of it.

In the picture you can see my Ah Kong who is very tall man. He was a gentleman and loves to read in fact he was holding a book in his hand in this picture. I now know where I got it from. I devour books like crazy and I always sleep with one. My husband kind of got used to the fact that there will always be a book on the bed.

This is where I grew up, in a rented house in Petaling Jaya. Just a walk away from my alma mater. Of all the pictures I own this is my favourite one. I often wonder what it was like back then.

There is actually 7 siblings but there is only 5 of them in the picture. They all told me that they had the best time during their childhood often up to no good and even locking up their neighbours gates by switching all their pad locks.

Thats a bit of the story behind the picture I usually journal this long stories behind my layout.

crate paper sketch challenge

I received the papers I ordered on Wednesday ( I have been waiting for it to go on sale since August) and after a chat with a friend who scraps really fast I knew I had to do a layout ASAP..thats when I saw the challenge on Crate paper's Blog. The line I bought was the Restoration I love the browns and all the muted faded colours, but it was not as easy to use initially. My friend however scraps like the wind and has a really small stash. She uses everything she has, I am taking her cue and will do as she does.

Honestly I really am at awe at scrappers who can pile on the embellies on their layout..I dunno why I can't paste it all at once lol.

On to the next layout. I will be very pleased if I can do my 50th layout by the end of the month. see how it goes.

where do I begin? All was fine right up to the point where I dropped my notebook and broke the AC adapter connector...wooppsssss, I did it at the best time just before raya hols and so I was disconnected to the internet till this Monday. Lately my body is not what it used to be, I am slower..I daydream more, I often get out of breath and worst is if I don't eat often my sugar level drops.

I also can't scrap slow ie. it has to be fast or I have to take 5-10 breaks to finish off a layout reason being my leg swells when I sit too long without putting my feet elevated.

Honestly I find it all amusing and tiring all at the same time. I only managed to do 2 layout since my last blog post. I only took pictures of one of it.

And what I notice is my layouts look the same esp design wise, only difference is the embellishments I used.

Here is the layout...

A whole lot of sassafras goodness( same one I used in this LO...hahahaha it looks so alike!!) , I love this brand a whole lot...it has this whimsy plus vintage look which I tend to gravitate towards. The prints and colours reminds me a lot of my childhood during the 70's.

For the layout, I wanted to use my distress inks, so I used a stencil and rub/??? distress ink with a cosmetic sponge. I altered the photo because it was already scratch and a bit torn. I first wet the paper then apply mist with a brush then heat it slowly till the cracks appear..be very careful not to burn the pics and this will only work if you printed the photo at a shop..ink jet prints won't work.

I am now starting to panic a little bit cause I just realised that its September and I have not organised anything for the baby! there is no crib no pram no car seat. It was until yesterday that it hit me that I have not done anything. And on top of that Raya is coming and as usual there is a lot of preparation and some stuff that one just can't do beforehand no matter what. I have yet to trim my hair, my eyebrows etc, I look like a mess and I honestly I just could not be bothered, best of all I have not bought any clothes for Raya. I have done the shopping for my daughter and hubby but thats it! and now all my shoes and slippers don't fit me. hahahaha. I have put on 3 kilos in 3 weeks!! eating like there is no tomorrow. My hubby says in my sleep I say I want to eat this and that..tsk tsk tsk!! being pregnant does funny things to a person. Oh ya I want to thank you for your lovely comments..lately I have been very lazy and have not replied them all. {hugs}

These few days I have been cleaning and organising my scrap stuff and space..lo and behold I found scraps and materials from an art retreat moooonnssssss ago!! It was held at SNC conducted by Iris Uy. (ehemm am sure you remembered Rachel) Val gave us extras for a layout and so I went in search of the layout that was part of the class package!! thank goodness my memory serves me well and I found it at Iris's blog...then came the question err techniques?! I did whatever I remembered and I found part of the instructions at CK's blog( talk about luck cause its the SAME layout!!) I could have done my own version with all the scraps however I wanted to " copy" Iris's beautiful layout since I had most of the same stuff..I thought why not eh? The red ribbon was 'dyed' using glimmer mist like I saw at Jessy's blog.

All I can sum up is that it gave me an insight on how another person's creative mind, and all I can say is wow! Iris sure put a lot into her layout, it may look simple but every single detail is not what it seems...a lot of fussy cutting, this and that. I enjoyed the process but won't repeat this kind of copy/direct lift anytime soon...it takes too much time to analyse each bit. It was a learning process nonetheless.

As for the lovely picture! I love it so much! It has in it my beautiful elegant mummy and my funny cheeky niece Sofia who insisted she wanted to pick her nose at that very moment..precious moment! hehehe. Pictures were taken on my papa's birthday.

Am so glad I got to do a layout that was pending since Jan!! On to the next layout!

I used Creative Scrappers Sketch #116 for this layout. This picture was taken perhaps 34 years ago at a studio. When I see this picture I see the same hair same, facial expression..my cheeks were this chubby till I was in my late 20's. My mum still calls me Yambo, she got the name from a Nestle dairy product in the 70's...imagine that! I used to hate it when my family calls me Yambo but nowadays I have come to accept it.

The pattern paper is a strange one, sometimes I like it sometimes I don't and because its foil finished its hard to take a decent picture of this layout.

I have so much pictures and pending projects in my head, some I planned since Feb but since I took a very very long break from scrapping I have so much to do, and wonder if I will get to scrap when the baby arrives. The reason I worry is because hehehe my stash still looks a lot..its does not look as if I have touched it!!

I have always been drawn to Webster Pages Pattern papers but often stare at them rather than using it. I find it pretty hard to use them cause most often the papers are lovely on its own...but I am determined that I will use it for my wedding layout. This is only my second layout from my wedding photos. Honestly I am not happy with the results, it looks stiff and unfinished. I just could not go on anymore, so I will leave it as it is. As there is no right and wrong in scrapbooking I will just take this as a lesson..perhaps I will get the hang of doing this shabby chic look in the future but for now practice makes perfect. I finally used the huge unity stamps I bought {smiles} funny even though I am not so happy about the results of my layout I sure had fun doing it..lots of misting, inking and best of all to finally use my Webster pages stash.

This layout is one of those that was planned one way but turn out another way. I keep changing the embellishments, glue un glue till I thought thats it! I gesso the picture cause the background was very busy. The journaling was done on a piece of the picture which was trimmed off. I just wrote on it and thought eh I could use this. As for the Dear Lizzy ribbon, I saw it at someone's blog and I used her idea.

I notice that if I stop scrapping its harder to start again and also I need to clean my space up every single time or else I cannot create.

Will be a busy weekend for me as my mum has summon me to spring clean her house and my Papa's birthday is tomorrow, he has really made a long list of what he wanted for his birthday. At the moment he has already got 2 phones one being an iPhone 4(which we told him its service is still unavailable but he wants it anyway) and an iPad..yessss this is for a man who does not surf the internet..hahaha..I guess its just fun for him to get presents. And funny cause he has gotten all his presents before his actual birthday.

This layout seems to have the same look as yesterday's LO and its because I used the same papers hahahaha I am trying my best to use up my stash...which is masking tapes, to use my stamps, use punches!!(why do I love buying them they take up too much space!!!) , chipboards ( I mean who can resist such cute Maya road chipboards) I am not even going to say anything about my papers.

The layout above is actually the most recent pictures of Sofia and BK (boy Karim), I always love it when he wears that Yankee t-shirt and wanted a picture of him but Sofia insisted "take my picture too!". Sofia loves to move and make hand gestures which makes it nearly impossible to take a decent picture of her.

I fell in love with the rose.bloomers dear Lizzy ribbons the moment I saw them, but they can be a bit difficult to use as they can a bit over the top. When I did this LO I was too tired to think, I wanted to use my fragments but not in a grungy way..and so I went to search for inspiration! and I found it at Wilna F's gallery at JBS. Yes I did a direct copy/scraplift cause honestly I was out of steam! My aim was just another layout. I am pleased though with the results.

The picture is taken in 2006 when we were at Bangkok it was a tough time for me but I was happy nonetheless to be with my girl. Looking back I can see that I have it really good, and honestly even with all the "shit" it is somewhat bearable. My greatest fear is losing my daughter, I notice that I often react hastily whenever I have this fear of losing her. Hiks!! look what doing a layout does to me! lol perhaps this was an old picture and it brought back memories.

I saw the sketch at Ame's blog last night and thought wow that's a fun sketch to do! As y'all can see clearly in the picture I went a bit errr bonkers when I saw my cake this year. I love this cream cake. I am tempted to ask hubby to go and buy one at this very moment! I have to say I was not aware that B was taking my pictures until the last shot! and so I shall blame my behaviour..due to hormonal changes :P

my gleeful birthday

I love this picture of us, as a family on my birthday with the lopsided cake my hubby bought for me. I remembered it was a Friday he took leave to arrange this lunch. It was so sweet and I am very very very happy that day. We took the pictures on self timer that's why the second one is off focus, nonetheless I love this picture big big time..and so I used my new papers that I have been hoarding for nearly 2 weeks. I got it online from the US on a special sale the owner had over one weekend! yes new arrivals on sale was rare indeed. When I was scrapping this layout my hubby took a peek and said "PINK?? u putting PINK?? with me in the picture"...but when it was done he said yes its perfect.

On another note I still have not done the swap for the raya cards..I have been putting it off. I wanna do shopping and all..yes this early cause I can't bear to wrestle the crowd later.

I tried so hard to take a straight picture but somehow it turn out lopsided anyways. This picture of my daughter eating cha soba was taken maybe 3 years back, then we were staying in Kuching. She has to have her japanese food, especially cha soba! I find it a joy to see her eat it everytime, she mastered using the chopsticks ever since she was 3, it was a natural thing for her. I always wanted to scrap this photos cause it was one of my fondest memories of us hanging out together...just the two of us.

Am hoping I will scrap more!! I gotta keep the momentum hehehe.

I never wanted to take such a drastic move as to privatise my blog. I started this blog as a place for me to enjoy creating scrapbook layouts, which in my mind was totally fun and harmless. It was very much a self indulging hobby that not many of my existing friends or families understand or have interest in...but I did it nonetheless cause its the only hobby which I have stuck with. I have dabble in many stuff but it was all fleeting and the interest didn't last as long as scrapbooking.

I guess this whole month have been very testing, I tried to put a very brave face and act happy but I broke down today. It was even more dramatic when my hubby called ans say that he was knock by a car! thank goodness he just got a scratch. Everyday I look at my life I can see that I have been very blessed and for that I am very grateful. I do not blame anyone for whatever "stuff" that I am feeling at the moment, it serves no purpose. But I have a choice and my choice is to close this blog to just my handful of readers whom share my interest in scrapbooking. Thats all I have to say. I want this matter done and over with, gotta move on in my life as I have so much to look forward to this November.

I did yet another layout today. I am trying to use my stash and tools for this layout, when I was going through my stuff I was thinking to myself why in the world did I not use this all before, perhaps on my part I was unsure what type of layout I wanted to do. There are so many styles, trend, products that I got confused initially, now I know what I want...sure I can buy cute stuff and all but I have to ask myself am I going to use it? Also I realised I am a very simple scrapper I like it embellished but I often hold back.

Another thing I am doing now is the 8x11.5 horizontal layouts, I have done 3 so far most of the ideas and sketches are from Page Maps and classes I take in the past and present I kind of mix it all up. I am trying to fill up an album.

The layout above is unfinished as I have not journal on it yet....part of the layout is also inspired by Christine Middlecamp.

Hope I don't bore my handful of readers with my narration I just can't help it..I love to tell why and how my layouts are done.

I love anything to do with journaling and emotional stuff lol yes yes I am a sensitive and emotional creature. I have not participate in Scrap it lah's challenge for a while and when I saw Rachel's LO I went to the SIL's blog to check it out.

basically what I wrote about is now I know that somethings are meant to be and that I have to be contend with myself before I allow myself to love again, that creating is better than hoarding (hahahaha), that I look better before I was pregnant but thats ok (hehehe)

I am not sure whether I posted this layout in my blog before..but just for story sake I will share the reason behind it. Firstly I hate having my pictures taken! and I even hate looking at my own pictures!!! pet peeve no 1. But I insisted DH to take this pic cause I just had my hair cut and I am just so happy cause I am expecting and I wanted to do a layout for the occasion..I wanted to capture the memory!! lol. I did not journal but each embellishment I adorn has a story behind it, and each time I see I know why I put it. silly huh? this was one of the last few LOs I managed to do before the hormones kicked in.

On another note I had a blast over the weekend, even if I missed going to SNC!!! Scrap abode is just a scrappers treasure trove, when I first went there I really could not believed my eyes. I am glad that Amelia, Yuzz and Elaine finally got to see it!

It has not been easy for me this past few weeks, yes I am very happy, blessed and grateful yet the issues of health around me has made me kinda stress and worried. Yesterday DH found out he had chickenpox and I have to be isolated from him, gotta thank my mum for taking care of him at her place. Hope and pray all will be well considering my situation and all.

I did another LO of BK with Dalya , this was before his hair was shaved off..poor baby.

I hikksssss bought Tim Holtz Tissue paper from SNC a while back and err forget to use them. I have not peeked into SNC for a while and then behold!! they have new stamps!!! and my so called "I will buy less statement in a previous post" is thrown in the basket. oh well!

I am hoping I will be a scrap machine so that I can churn out at least a hundred LOs by this year.

what a week!

This week was pretty challenging for me..I'll spare you all the details though cause really they are just pretty lame. I have accepted that I am a control freak and whenever my plans don't go accordingly I panic. The good news is that now I am more aware of my setbacks, awareness makes me stop at my tracks when I confront something that triggers me. I now make a choice either to react to it or not, and I don't put up with what I don't want in my space anymore. So far life is getting better and better every moment.

On another note.. I wanna add that I admire those who have kids in a row, like Rachel for example..how do you do it Rachel??? I spend 2 days taking care of Sofia and BK I was totally overwhelmed. However, saying that kids are truly a present from God they totally can make you wanna cry and laugh at the same time; and they are the best lesson when it comes to patience and unconditional love.

On to the LO below, I did this maybe in April or May. I did a few other stuff but they are all at my mum's place and boy!! my mum is demanding a lot nowadays LOL she is no longer accepting plain ole pics, they have to be embellished and in a form of LO or mini book. She is actually planning a crop @ her house for Hari Raya this year.

I actually have not been scrapbooking this week, doing more of card and stuff for Hari Raya, am hoping I will get them done in time this year. I must have totally impressed my dad cause he says why buy cards just ask Mariam to do it LOL.

I just realised that I don't take enough photos to scrap. Even my recent trip to Bali I only manage to capture 10 shots!! I noticed that whenever I travel I enjoy the moment by looking at all the sights and sounds. I prefer to hear, see and daydream rather than clicking away, but the irony is that I love to scrap and its hard to scrap without photos. Its even harder to share journal pages so that is also the reason why my entries have been rather sparse.

I have been using my Slice more often after I bought the Hands Free kit, it made using it more pleasant and fun.

I enjoyed doing the LO and that has always been the joy of this hobby, its very much self serving. Also a recent statement made me have an AHA moment..more or less this is what the person said..the most original LOs are the ones that come from the heart first then conceptualise in the head then through the loving hands. I know it sounds vague but I totally got was she said to me. I just love scrapbooking it makes me so so happy!!

Lastly I would like to say thanks to those who left some comments :) its good to scrap again.

First of all I do apologize for making my blog private, actually I did it because I wasn't keeping it up to date in fact the last time I open my dashboard was 28th March. I have no other excuse other than I was not feeling up to it, I still enjoy my scrapping but not sharing nor doing challenges. In fact I did not venture out shopping till May. I was either just too tired or uninterested.

Finally June-July my hormones and stuff were stable I am now more "normal" as can be. Enough of my rants and excuses, for anyone still reading my blog ahahahaha here is my latest LO.

I been meaning to blog but I have been going out so often by the time I am back home I am totally exhausted. A lot of changes is happening in my life and I am in adjustment period.

Every single day I am itching to do a LO but somehow its just not happening. I did the above LO just for the simple reason of using my new stamps. I bought the stamps online and finally got it today so I was stamping like mad! Its the only Tim Holtz stamps I bought ie Good thoughts. I was not feeling the others as much.

The LO above is based loosely around Ed sketch I love ed sketch because of the part where I have to use stamps in every LO. I missed a few months and planned to do the ones I miss once I find the time. The photo is very blur because I used my handphone as I misplaced my G11 hmmmm. Honestly I love this LO because I misted it in different colours and the stamping is also different colours too bad I am unable capture the details.

Another site I like is Creative Scrappers and one of the DT is Wati Basri is a sweet lady and I did my first LO at her class @ Papier. Her class is highly recommended too bad I will miss it this time around.

Remember how I was going on about my mission to de-stash let me be the first to laugh at myself! I succumbed and bought more papers but I have refrained from buying Dear Lizzy as much as I am tempted to. I am in love with the new Avignon 7 Gypsies papers and love what Piradee has done with it.

I am going to stop here. For the record no I am not sad I have been asked that question so many times LOL I am just very tired and a bit bothered by the heat..and lately my thoughts are scattered at times beyond my control.

Also I won't be updating my blog till the end of the month I will be traveling in and out of Malaysia then in Malaysia again.

Gosh I sound so dry LOL

I did this very quick.I wanted to do a LO but the ideas are not coming to me at the moment...but I want to keep the momentum going and still do something hence this page.

additional notes on technique: I used the heart as a mask with re-positionable adhesive then stamp the background script on top of it. I got this technique from Heidi Swapp's blog months ago. The side though is 7 gypsies paper tape :) .

Ok I have a confession I hoard (sayang) my papers and stash and its not healthy. If I rationalize each time I want to scrap whats the fun in that? anyway every season there are new product and honestly I don't think I will run out. So I am on a mission!! I am going to use it..and boy was it liberating. No wonder non scrappers just don't get it..for $$$ spent on scrapping is no joke and then to hoard it all? hahaha no wonder I look crazy to them.

I am planning on using my stash when I write in my private journals and my sketch books. I really hope that my stash will shrink or I will have stop shopping for scrapbook stuff?? errrr....fat chance! I am already planning a shopping list with Dear Lizzy, sassafras, prima, maya road in it

Oh ya I just realised I did not talk about my LO above. The challenge was to use up one of the older( definitely not oldest) paper in my stash and stickers. I just love the fact I did it in an hour. Will journal on it later when I am in the journal state of mind.

Once I was asked why I started scrapbooking? No 1 is to scrap my daughter and No 2 is to scrap my wedding pictures and this was all planned in 2002...now its 2010. The irony of it all. Procrastinating is my weakness. Thank goodness my stash from 2002 are just cutesy stickers, a stack of paper( so out of fashion) a Canson Acid free Album and Friskars paper trimmer at a bargain price of USD 4.

This is just my rambling which I added a dash of drama to make it sound interesting for I don't have a whole lots of paper or a scrap room just a corner in my bedroom but enough to make me feel that I have a stash overload lol.

The picture says it all! I often make faces when a camera is pointed at me and YES! even on my wedding day there were a few shots like this. I have a pile of old and new pictures that documents such antics...am now hoping that I will do this hmmm less often pffffffftttttttt.

By the way I was I think 23 when the picture was taken and somehow I still kinda look the same hehehehe. oh ya! I wanted to say one more thing..I am on a mission to finish my stash but somehow its not happening. I keep getting more yummy stuff so gotta use all the lovelies I got esp RAKs and gifts. This LO were mostly made from the stuff I got from Scrap it lah when I did the Simple LO.

Mind my grammar spelling and all as I am in a hurry...gotta go cook dinner

Scrap it lah February 2010

When I saw this photo of my Papa and me I thought hmmmm why not scrap it lah. Sure its not truly a lovey dovey one but an idea came to me. I did write a letter and then put it in the envelope. It is all that I ever want to say to my Papa but do not have the courage to do so. The Chinese characters are from a Far Flung Craft ledger paper which I thought was apt cause he loves accounts and such. Since the red paper is already looks like a frame I did it simple no layers etc. As for the words on the envelope its suppose to read CONFIDENTIAL hehehe..its was a technique I learnt from Iris Uy.

I am a very slow scrapper sometimes taking days to finish a LO and for me doing a LO is all about fun, expressing my creativity and unwinding..sometimes even healing. Right now this is my favourite LO ..to tell you ladies the truth tears were forming when I did this. I got to tell my Papa what I always wanted to say...soon!!

DIY flower

I have been roaming around blogs looking at LOs and such. I noticed that there are a lot of DIY flowers. Some are made from felt, some fabric, some newspaper, some book prints, some tissue paper. I looked a various tips and tutorial and tried to do one. One can use a scallop punch or die cut depends on what one have. I did layers of paper and leftover napkin paper.

Am not so keen on how the colour turned out. I guess I was having the Scrap-it-lah LO in mind when I did the flower hence the red colour. Speaking of scrap-it-lah I still have not done my LO...seems that Mojo left me for a bit..hoping it be back soon.

I am going to try to make one in another colour.

I am now regretting that I did not bookmark the pages where I got the tips and tutorials so that I can share them here.

I bought this notebook which is half the price of a moleskin from Cziplee few months ago, I had a few ideas to journal ala scrapbooking but have been putting it off for the longest time. Then I had an idea to use the instant pictures as they are the perfect size.

Did a simple design without too much layers. So I am going to go with this format instead of a mini book.

now the problem is the shop where we bought the camera is sold out of films!! ohhh the horror. I can't be as trigger happy as I wanna be.

A few more shots and I will compile a mini book or maybe not. I was thinking this would be perfect for my personal daily journal cause of its size. I am so happy am still beaming ear to ear.

DH bought it at a shop at Mid Valley. My daughter insist she wants one and planned to pay it with her angpow $$$ ..but I put my foot down.

When we were taking pictures of each other at the restaurant we were getting stares at as the camera is very bulky and the instant photo whizzing out was such a head turner.

Am now wondering when I can get more instant film..my hands are itching.

mini album for Ah Ma

Sofia' Ah Ma invited my family for makan besar on the 12th Friday and I thought how sweet of her. I somehow managed to do a very simple mini album for her. The pictures were taken before the rain that stressed me out! the rain got into my upper floor making chaos. I was bitting my nails wiping all the water and had only a few hours left to journal and embellish the mini album..suffice to say I did not take the picture of the finished work so the pictures above will do also imagine the album covered with the red festive napkin paper with the picture of Sofia tickling the piano.

Sofia's Ah Kong was very kind to say that my gift is priceless and that money can't buy it..made me blush huhuhu..Sofia on the other hand claimed ownership to the album hehehehe..screaming and crying till she got her hands on it.

Whilst making the album I thought to myself wow time surely flies and look how Sofia has grown up and each time how different she looks. She resembles my Papa when she was a wee baby and now looks a lot like her daddy..and our chubby cheeks lol..which makes us look ohhh so round in pictures.

Am hoping that my routine will get back to normal and not have to hear or visit any hospital or clinics in the near future. I just heard of more positive news a few minutes ago and hope that my Papa is resting well, I can't go to see him cause children below 12 are not allowed at the ward.

Finally am wishing all a Happy Lunar New Year :)

ohhh and a final note as much as I want to roam around the net looking at all ye inspiring and lovely blogs am unable to do so without irritation and discomfort to my eyes. Its my body telling me switch off the lappy!! rest your eyes!

Surat Cinta

Hi everyone and anyone who comes by my blog. Yes I am still alive and no I am not fully ok..but life is good! and for that I made a lil something for my beloved. I will fill the envelope(inspired by maya road hahaha) with my surat cinta(love notes/letter) I am so grateful to have him in my life. He has been a real support and for that I am a very lucky and blessed.

I did this with a Hero Art stamp embossed with clear embossing powder and rub in distress inks and then blend with a wet paint brush ala Tami Hartley/Jen McGuire(she calls it embossed layered resist).

Hopefully I will update my blog more often. I have another ATC I want to do along with Ronda :)

technique/products used : kraft paper heat embossed with lace stamping, colourwash using stream, maya road journaling thingy written with nib pen using india ink refill(was the only ink I had), heidi swapp chipboard flower painted with teal paint plus gold mica thingy, 7 gypsies "keep out" stamp using ink and red paint, daughter's happy meal box for the hot balloon and bird image.

this is my first LO for the year twenty ten. I decided to do a no holds bar, no rules applied LO. I stamped the starburst hero arts stamp using my favourite distress inks!! (errrr can you believe it there are more new colours to come arghh). I then cut out the stamp images and layered them, in fact I just cut it at a whim..so much fun to get so many different shapes from just one stamp.

talking about the new year am not about to make any new resolutions I will just go with the flow.

I went to Julie's blog saw her tutorial and thought hmmm I can do that! Then in the midst of doing the LO I thought hmm I can submit this to SIL for this month's challenge but then just when I was done with everything I realised the photo was in colour hehehe..dun matter.

I am happy I gotta use the masking tape my mum bought for me..err its really funny that she keeps all sorts of "junk" for me lately. The last time she actually gave me glass flowers from an old chandelier she got from the neighbour's rubbish skip ngeeeee....that is so unlike her.

Yesterday I attended SB 101 @ Papier. I had great fun doing the LO and chatting away. SB is still not natural to me cause I give it a lot of thought and am very self conscious hahaha..

I love taking classes cause I don't know of any crops held in KL..its rather fun to scrap with other people in their creative mode.

this is my take for this month's scrap-it-lah challenge. The challenge was really bugging me cause I could not come up with an apt title for another photo I wanted to scrap. Then this morning I saw this photo of Sofia and the title just came to me in an instant!

I love this photo of sweet sofia, I took it after I saw my mum put a piece of paper to remedy her hiccup (please please don't ask me why!!)she look as if she is posing and smiling at me. love it!

he called me and asked me to buy him a note book so that he can jot down his coming travel experience. I said I can do one. he agreed and the above is what I came out with. it was my first attempt and he wanted it in green. i made it simple cause he likes it that way, and best of all he liked it.

i used campap acid free drawing paper block and used distress inks, gesso, paints to make the background. he specifically wanted it to look distressed but he funnily said i want it to look like you used staz on! hehehehe.. i think he must have meant distress inks.

Today I was feeling out of sorts and I went to a local scrapbooking shop. I wanted to buy buy buy papers,paints and inks just to make myself feel better. Today I let go and just went with the flow of things no expectations. I wanted to feel better but stuff did not make me feel better. I did not just get stuff but a great conversation and ideas from the owner. Scrapbooking is just plain fantastic, I made friends through this hobby, lovely generous giving ladies..and very talented as well. I learn so much each day with all the blogs, classes, galleries, forum.

So its not the stuff that is making me feel better but the human contact and interactions as well as sharing a mutual love for scrapbooking. The exchange of ideas and inspirations, as well as attempts to make our own art makes it easier to relate to each other. Even though, I scrap for my own pleasure but I also love the support and comments from others. Best of all this is a healing outlet for me.

I am thankful for today.

creating a whole lot of mess

what first started out as a simple LO turn into a paint, mist and a whole lot of mess. Since I still don't have a proper desk, I scrap on the floor..and do everything in a used fruit box!

I had a whole lot of fun doing it but cleaning up is not fun. I have mixed feelings on the outcome. I took a picture of it this morning but later did some changes this evening.

I am loving the Adirondack colourwash big time!

Haircut

After driving through an unnecessary traffic jam caused by onlookers that nearly spoilt my mood this morning I straightaway started on a layout to lift it up again. Going through some pictures I finally choose these pictures. I love this pictures I took of Miss D after she had a haircut. They cut off quite a bit of hair which was kept growing since she was a wee baby. I got all emotional and nearly burst into tears but then Miss D did these two pose for me to try to cheer me up..silly mama :P Nowadays I am so used to seeing her with this length that ignore her pleas to let her hair grow.

papers and stickers used are all leftovers from a class with her. her classes are highly recommended, a very talented lady.

Good day I know I know I don't update often but this is not my daily journal. so when I craft theres a post if not well dust will gather.

First of all I did a 11 by 8.5 " LO for edsketch challenge of my dad when he was a wee boy hehehe people always say I look like him and I agree. We have the same expression and face structure. I added a tag I did at Rachel's card making class. I love the class it was full of techniques and great tips. Rachel was very witty and I especially love how she is so organized. The class was smooth and very relaxing.

We did 2 cards and a tag, I especially love the hearts on the line one. So cute!

Sadly I did not bring my camera and did not capture any pics :(

oh ya when I first started scrapbooking I thought the aim was using scraps to do layouts but know I know that it is the other way around...srapbooking produces loadsssss of scraps and I don't know what to throw hahahaha..its a mess I tell ya.

pheww I really took a long break from scrapbooking especially with the hols and all. I just did not feel the drive to do it. anyways this is my take on scrap it lah oct prompt. I was overthinking stuff as usual then without much effort this idea came. "make the journey simple" journey = life to me ie. without the drama.... makes life enjoyable, peaceful, joyful and beautiful. this time around I used Duck Cloth to matt my photo, I dyed its , frayed it and stamp on it. I also used glimmer mist in sea glass and bronze. this is a simple, fun not to be taken seriously kind of layout just the way I like it. and I doodled by the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea around the cardstock.

this LO is also an affirmation/reminder to myself..enjoy the simple things in life, make life simple.

scrap it lah challenge

The challenge over at Scrap it lah's only requirement is to do a layout using 70% of one's favourite brand. Pheww I had quite a think over which brand to use cause I only buy lil bits of stuff here and there. In the end I chose Basic Grey mixing the urban prairie papers and eva element stickers. I also added basic grey opaline pearls. As usual I could not capture the picture of my layout nicely(errrrrrr is a DSLR/prosumer camera required??)

oh ya my daughter always remind me to do a PINK colour layout..no black or brown paper Mama please!

The side of her picture I put Sweet, Playful, Charming and journalled about her. I'm pleased cause I finished another layout wohooo. It was not too hard after all. I am beginning to see the fun in it.

the thing about scrapbooking for me at least is that to start doing a layout is the hardest. but doing a challenge like in the previous post 'force' me to take action...thus a finish LO wheeee.. and so the LO above are inspired/scraplifted from Ali Edwards Tuesday Tutorial! I don't follow the product list just the general design and placement of emblishments and photo. I did with whatever I had. Haven't journal yet but the LO is of my trip to India few years back, when the picture was taken I was in pain as my whole body broke out in hives. this is one of my favourite picture of myself.

Use the from Ed's Sketch, Got Stamp to do this layout of Che. Somehow I find it hard to capture pictures of it, colour seems off. I enjoyed doing this layout so much fun. I like Ed's Sketch, Got Stamp because the sketches are simple and easy for me to understand hehehe..I get lost when I attempt to do other challenges. So this month one's gotta use flowers and leaves. I stamp my flower,stem and one leaf onto grunge paper and then cut it out..so much fun, only put one leaf cause it is so big.

This is my 3rd ever layout done, before I used to think why would anyone want to do 12 x12 layouts hehehehe so in life never say never.

the one on the right bukan ATC but I put it there just to patnerkan the tie dye looking ATC, background using alcohol inks and a sentiment stamp from Tim Holtz stampers anon collection and I saja add the flower and button.

I actually like the "results not typical" piece cause masa I buat tu I was very unsure and biasalah takut2.

ahhhh this ATC I suka but I just cannot capture the true colour what do I expect kan pakai pun camera handphone.

I did a few ATC but I did not take ant pics.

On another note, I nak citer pasal stamps! I love stamps..rubber stamps! for a non artistic non drawing person I love the fact I can create pieces like this. makes me feel all ahhhh and nice inside. I am coveting a Frida Kahlo stamp which is possible to buy online but postage is a killer. Oh well see how it goes.
